The Decemberists – The King is Dead

January 23, 2011 | Posted By: | Uncategorized |

Dream shoot with photographer Autumn De Wilde for Capitol Records recording artists The Decemberists, one of my favorite bands of all time.

After a cozy night at the Ace Hotel in Portland and really really strong coffee from Stumptown next door, we headed to a  location called ‘The Farm’, Pendarvis Farm to be exact.  Home of the indie roots music festival called ‘Pickathon‘ and fertile ground for The Decemberists new record ‘The King is Dead’ to be brought to life.  They are such beautiful and talented people inside and out, the day couldn’t have been better.

I set up my kits in back of the barn next to super power stylist Shirley Kurata.   She pulled an amazing rack for wardrobe, I always love her style.  There were impromptu jam sessions between shots, and I had a big Hollywood lighted mirror set up for me.  Nice!!   The Farm had an old school bus with bull horns outback which served as someone’s living quarters, a few horses, a gorgeous field backing up to woods, and.. a recording studio.  Autumn had so many great places to shoot, and I can’t wait to see more of the photos released.

Check out behind the scenes..
